Frequently Asked Questions

DO I NEED TO TAKE A PRIVATE LESSON BEFORE SIGNING UP FOR A CLASS?

If it is your first time ever doing Pilates or Ballet, I highly recommended taking a private lesson before you decide to register for a group class. Though our group classes are beginner and fundamental level, there are many alignment and choreographic aspects that are safest to practice with one-on-one training beforehand.

WHAT SHOULD I REGISTER FOR FIRST?

If you are new to both Pilates and Ballet and can't decide which one to start with, Pilates is the first step I highly recommend. An Introductory Evaluation is required before booking any Pilates Private Sessions. This is a complimentary 30 minute session to evaluate your alignment, areas of weakness, and any past or present injuries you may have.

If you are familiar with Pilates and do not have any present injuries that inhibit your daily activities, feel free to sign up for Ballet!

WHAT DO I WEAR TO PILATES, AND DO I NEED A MAT?

Wear whatever fitness attire you are most comfortable in, fitted clothing is recommended so I can see your body alignment during exercises. Barefoot or socks are acceptable, and a mat is recommended though not required. Alternatives to a mat could be a towel, rug, or blanket. Pilates utilizes a lot of props, some of which can be household items. We will go over specific props for your wellness journey during your Introductory Evaluation.

WHAT DO I WEAR TO BALLET?

Fitted athletic attire is recommended if you do not have tights/leotard. Ballet technique shoes work best, but socks are a decent alternative. It is important that you have a support surface near you, such as a kitchen counter top or sturdy piece of furniture. This will act as your Ballet Barre, which is what we use for balance support. Set yourself up in a spacious area; enough to where you can swing your leg from front to back. Music will be provided for you.
